All rights in the Software belong to Ing. Roberto Arato (the "Owner"), who distributes it under the name Arato Ingegneria. By installing, copying or using Modbus Tester (the "Software") you accept this license. If you do not accept it, do not install or use the Software.

1. License to use
The Owner grants you, free of charge, a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to install and use the Software on any number of computers, including for professional and commercial purposes, for example to test and commission third-party installations.

2. Distribution
The Software is available only from aratoingegneria.it and from the Microsoft Store. Without the Owner's written permission you may not distribute, publish or make it available on other websites, archives or media, nor sell, rent or bundle it with other products. You may make the copies needed for installation and for your own backup.

3. Restrictions
To the extent permitted by law, you may not decompile or disassemble the Software or attempt to reconstruct its source code, modify it or create derivative works, or remove or alter trademarks, copyright notices and this license. This does not affect the rights granted to the user by articles 64-ter and 64-quater of Italian Law 633/1941 (EU Directive 2009/24/EC), which cannot be excluded by contract.

4. Ownership
The Software, its source code and documentation are and remain the exclusive property of the Owner. This license grants you only the right of use described above; all rights not expressly granted are reserved.

5. No warranty
The Software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of operation, fitness for a particular purpose and absence of errors. The Software reads and writes data in real devices (PLCs, instruments, drives): you are responsible for using it safely, with the installation in a condition that allows testing. The Software is not intended for safety functions or for controlling production processes.

6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Owner is not liable for any direct or indirect damage, loss of data, plant downtime or loss of profit arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Software. This limitation does not apply to wilful misconduct or gross negligence (article 1229 of the Italian Civil Code) or to other cases where the law does not allow it.

7. Personal data
The Software does not collect or transmit personal data. Settings are stored only on the computer, in the user's data folder.

8. Third-party components
The Software uses the Microsoft .NET runtime, distributed under the MIT license (https://github.com/dotnet/runtime/blob/main/LICENSE.TXT). The Microsoft Store version includes the runtime; the other versions require the Microsoft .NET 10 Desktop Runtime (x64) installed separately.

9. Updates and term
The Owner may publish new versions, possibly under a different license, and may stop distribution at any time. The license terminates automatically if you breach its terms; in that case you must uninstall and delete the Software.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction
This license is governed by Italian law. The Court of Treviso, Italy, has exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except for the consumer's court where provided by law.
